Location and geographic features

Chemanchery Grama Panchayat Office is located near National Highway 17 between Calicut and Koyilandy. Chemanchery is known for Kappad beach, where Vasco de Gama, Portuguese navigator landed in 1498 is a tourist center as well as a historical place, Kanhilassery Siva and sreekrishna temples, Thiruvangoor Narasimha Parthasarathi temples, Pookkad Kalalayam etc. are also famous landmarks of the area. The sub registrar office and the Chemanchery railway station are historical landmarks of the Indian freedom fight. A monument created as a memorial of the Quit India movement is near to the chemanchery Sub registrar office, it is also a landmark of the region. The panchayat is bordered with the river Korapuzha at the south and east, arabian sea at west Chegottukav panchayath at north.
